On natural black or dark brown hair
7/1 is 4 levels lighter than natural black or dark brown hair, more than permanent colour can lift on its own. Lighten with bleach to about this level first, then apply 7/1 with a 6% (20 vol) developer to tone. On coloured hair, colour does not lift colour.
Tone
An ash (/1) tone: cool and smoky, it cancels brassy orange and yellow, and suits fair, neutral and olive skin.
Grey coverage
Fashion tones cover grey less fully on their own. For more than about a third grey, mix 7/1 1:1 with the natural shade of the same depth, then add developer.
How to apply
